Somewhere in The Night

Somewhere in the Night is a recently released Fox noir from 1946. Notwithstanding the excellent title and direction by Mankiewicz, this movie doesn't really succeed, even though it starts quite well. John Hodiak simply doesn't have the presence to carry the effort, and Mank's skill with dialogue fail him in what should have perhaps been a more action-laden number.
