Rustling Landscapes

Saw Rustling Landscapes (Selestenje) by director Janez Lapajne yesterday. Though I doubt many people will ever see this Slovenian movie, I think it's a nice example of the Rohmeresque love story genre. Set in a dappled, forested vacation countryside, it follows the course of the relationship of a young couple who have gradually grown apart. Different life-visions and career goals split them apart in the aftermath of a mistaken abortion (both parties claim the other misunderstood their intentions), events unfolding in the space of a few days of a retreat to their country cabin. She dallies with a care-free soldier, while he becomes smitten with a fellow vacationer. Nice movie with enough covert edge to keep it from becoming too saccharine.
